Leeds Spiders (1) started their second game away from home with a weak side due to holidays and work commitments with some of our young guns and new players to venture northwards.
Spiders started with our best combination John Edwards, Andy Atkinson, Jamie Stead, Joshua Gardner, and Captain Wayne Fisher whilst warming the bench Chris Yeoman and Lisa Gardner. The five worked well together for the first quarter and for the first ten minutes we held our own, despites rough and tough approach from the Eagles 12- 6 to the home side.
The second quarter the difference in a home team with a strong side and a travelling team with minimal options, made it easy for the Eagle’s to press us out of the game along with the tumbles. 35-10 to the Eagles at Halftime.
The second half started and the tactics changed from Wayne talking to the floor to John Edwards say hello to the wooden floor this time with a possible injury, wrapped and strapped and back on John Edwards made the most of time left but pressure is on for our first Home game next week to get the team back together…. 3rd qtr 52-20.
The final quarter couldn’t come any sooner but with all that we could only say that we did well and are still learning our way, so no worry’s just yet final score 76-28 to the Eagle’s
Spiders Head Coach, John Sharp, said “It’s Hard to play a strong team with a weakened side but”.
Lead Scorers: Wayne Fisher 16 points, Jamie Stead 8 Points and John Edwards 4 points.
