SPIDER-Y is happy to announce additional Ambassadors to our charity to increase maximum exposure for the work we do.
We have invited the following members of our Basketball and Rugby teams to join our Patron Hannah Cockroft MBE, current Ambassadors Harry Brown and Sophie Carrigill on the ambassador register, in doing so we are recognising these indivduals and these achievment over the last 12 months and wish them luck in the coming years whever thats in Rio 2016 or in Australia 2017. Jack Brown - Spiders Club Captain and Coach to our Junior Teams for many years now,
Jack has shown great leadership and is a great mentor to all the younger players,
his leadership continued this year has he was given the honour to lead his country to
victory in the Wheelchair Rugby League European Championships and Keilty Fassolette Trophy over France in September,
aswell has been named player of the tournement.
James Simpson - Rhinos Captain for the last two years and a great inspirational member of the club,
He regained his England selection for the second year and played in all the games for England in the European Championships.
James will continue his role in 2016 with increased responcibility of player/coach taking his leadership into helping our Development team come together.
Joshua Gardner - Josh has been second team captain and assistant coach for the last couple of years
along with helping out at junior league over the years, recently he gained an apprentship with the BBC
which resulted in dropping the Rugby side of his game. He is part of the England media team that
brought to world the first ever live streaming of international Wheelchair Rugby League at the recent
European Championships his commentory was legendary and maybe featured on this years SPOTY.
Jodie Boyd-Ward - Leeds Spider black Widows Vice Captain and Leeds Rhinos Vice Captain last year also saw,
Jodie gain Engalnd Selection for the European Championships 2015, Jodie has helped out at both Spiders and Rhinos
and played an important part in the first Womens team and helped Rhinos get to the Semi Final of this years Challenge Cup
Jodie is now starting work on preperation towards re selsction and keeping that place for the World Cup 2017 in Australia.
Coral Batey - Leeds Spiders players and gretas performer winning player sawards year on year,
for several years Coral has been with Spiders and has featured in every team at every level.
Coral did play for Rhinos in th epast but her commitment to Paralympic Wheelchair Rugby took off.
A natural at the game with excellent chair skills, it wasn't long before her talent was spotted by the GB coaches,
and with impressive speed was fast tracked into the full GB squad.
Her first international match came in January 2014, at the Tri-Nations tournament in Toronto, and Coral went
on to represent GB at the Canada Cup and the 2014 World Championships. At the Canada Cup, Coral made
an immediate impression on the world stage, winning best in class for 1.5s – a remarkable achievement for
a player with less than one year's experience in the sport. Coral is the youngest member of the squad, and the only female.
Tom Halliwell - Leeds Rhinos Player and the Youngest member of the England Squad that won the European
Championships and was top scorer in the competition with 88 points, not bad for his first international competition.
Tom is one of the future stars of Wheelchair Rugby League but also Rugby League so whatch this space.
